The Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre works nationally and internationally to tackle offences involving children committed or facilitated by the use of the internet. Their ambit is also to deal with those involved in the production, distribution and viewing of child abuse material.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre consist of police officers who have specialist knowledge and experience of tracking and prosecuting those involved in the commission of sex offences. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre is also a partner in the “Virtual Global Taskforce”, which is an international law enforcement alliance established in 2004 to provide an international alliance of law enforcement agencies across Australia, the United States of America and Canada as well as Interpol.
